PartyGaming remains confident - 31st December 2009

PartyGaming remains confident

Product suite remains strong: PartyCasino.com, PartyPoker.com, PartyBets.com, PartyGammon.com, PartyBingo.com, World Poker Tour

Strategic purchases and potential mergers on cards for 2010

Leading listed online gaming operator PartyGaming has stated that its revenues since the end of September are expected to be in line with its earlier predictions despite falling over the first nine months of the year.

PartyGaming owns the World Poker Tour land-based poker tournament series and operates popular online poker domain PartyPoker.com alongside leading bingo sites FoxyBingo.com, Mirror Bingo, Think Bingo and Cheeky Bingo.

The operator stated that it would release its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2009 on February 3 and expects clean full-year earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation to be ‘slightly ahead’ of its expectations.

“As indicated at the time of our third quarter key performance indicators, our business has continued to perform well across the board during the fourth quarter with a return to net revenue growth across all four of our key product verticals,” said Jim Ryan, Chief Executive Officer for the Gibraltar-based operator.

“Returning poker to growth has been a key focus for us. We are pleased to see that the initiatives introduced throughout the year are now feeding through into both operational and financial performance with increased player numbers and average net daily revenues versus the previous quarter, despite continued competition from illegal US-facing sites and the difficult macroeconomic climate.

“Our casino business has also continued to perform well on the back of new games launched on PartyCasino.com as well as higher jackpots with the most recent Mega Gold jackpot paying out close to five million dollars to the lucky winner earlier this month.

“Bingo continues to show substantial growth on the back of the CashCade acquisition in July of 2009.

“In sportsbetting, our gross win margin has benefited from a good run of sporting results and the introduction of improved risk management tools.

“Despite the challenges presented by the prevailing macroeconomic environment, we have not been distracted from the execution of our strategic plan. With the prospect of a number of new and large regulated markets in front of us, an expanding portfolio of business-to-business customers and a return to growth in our core business, we remain confident about the group’s prospects.”

PartyCasino Wins Media Man Online Casino Award, by Greg Tingle - 30th December 2009

PartyCasino.com Wins Media Man Online Casino Award

PartyCasino.com has once again been awarded the Media Man and Casino News Media "Online Casino Of The Month".

The competition for the coveted award was intense again this month with massive bids from both Captain Cooks Casino and Virgin Casino, however there can only be one winner... ladies and gentlemen, that's PartyCasino.com

The award follows PartyPoker's EGR Poker Operator Of The Year and PartyGaming also made the shortlist for EGR Operator Of The Year. Last month PartyGaming's PartyPoker.com also won the Casino News Media "Online Poker Website Of The Month".

The Media Man - Casino News Media accolade is based on a combination of elements including user experience, innovation, trustworthiness, customer service, gameplay, affiliate program offerings, newsworthiness and company values.

PartyCasino.com is one of a number of PartyGaming brands.

The most popular PartyCasino.com games of late include Rambo, The Godfather, Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Mission: Impossible, The Terminator, Cleopatra, Sinatra, Thor, The Hulk, Monopoly, Resident Evil and Mega Fortune Wheel. Last month a German casino player won the Gold Mega Jackpot of almost $5 million dollars playing Mega Fortune Wheel.

The PartyCasino.com jackpot is currently approaching the $1 million mark. Players can also compete for the Marvel Hero Jackpot, playing the Marvel super hero themed online slot games.

PartyCasino's most recent game releases include Tarzan, High Noon and Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

PartyGaming CEO Jim Ryan has gone on record advising PartyCasino will soon feature more Hollywood blockbuster themed slots. A few in the know journalists and media agents have been recently tipped off that pro wrestling themed online slot games are in the works and that an all time classic movie adaption will be showcased in the PartyCasino portfolio within 3 months. Names been thrown around include Andre The Giant, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, but those names are only rumors, however a print feature did showcase Andre earlier in the year, indicating that there is substance to the rumor mill. In any event, PartyCasino already has the world's most impressive line up of Hollywood themed games, and more are just around the corner.

In other exciting PartyGaming news, PartyPoker.com is currently running qualifiers to the L.A Poker Classic in the United States. PartyGaming's recent purchase of the World Poker Tour company and assets enables PartyGaming to once again accept American based poker players, and they are hopefully of soon accepting American casino players also. Both websites accept most European, South American and Australian players.

PartyCasino.com and PartyPoker.com customers can also benefit from rewards and bonuses via PartyPoints and the Palladium Lounge. Be certain to check out the PartyCasino exclusive "Cash Machine" that is being championed as one of the greatest online casino promos ever.

Media Man, Casino News Media and Global Gaming Directory do have a b2b relationship with PartyGaming, as they do with dozens of other companies in the gaming and igaming industry.

888.com acquires Wink Bingo - 23rd December 2009

888 is looking to strengthen its position in the UK market and in August was outbid by rival PartyGaming for Cashcade, another bingo company.

The deal will cost £11m upfront with the rest tied to profits in the period to March 2011. Wink Bingo was launched less than two years ago but already has 60,000 players, making it one of the most popular internet bingo sites.

Gigi Levy, chief executive of 888, says: “This is a lucrative deal, we think it’s a very reasonable price. Despite what some people think, there is a lot of room for growth in online bingo; we’re expecting 20 to 25% growth next year.”

In the 11 months to November 30, Wink Bingo had revenues of £15m and profit before tax of £1.3m.

Levy adds: “Online gaming is traditionally very male-orientated, but bingo companies like Wink have been able to attract a lot of women. It is also a very social style of gaming – people really get to know each other online.”

In November, 888 announced it would be seeking a licence from France in 2010 when the government is expected to pass legislation allowing online gambling.

888.com’s fomer vice president of brand marketing Matt Robinson joined PartyGaming in a new role as head of UK marketing operations in July.

Grey recently resigned its ad account with the company.

The company recently launched a TV and 96 sheet ad campaign showing Trigger Happy TV star Dom Joly pull on a snorkel and mask to avoid drowning in money as he lands the prize whilst playing on his laptop. It also projected its logo on the Houses of Parliament.

Partygaming Sees 2009 Core Earnings Slightly Ahead - 19th December 2009

Online gaming group Partygaming PLC said Friday it expects its 'clean' full-year earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, or Ebitda, to be slightly ahead of the company's expectations amid solid current trading.

'Clean' Ebitda is the company's preferred measure of profitability and excludes one-off, non-recurring and non-cash items.

In a statement ahead of the company's Dec. 31 year-end, Partygaming said it sees revenue for the full year in line with expectations.

Jim Ryan, Chief Executive, said in a statement that, "as indicated at the time of our third quarter key performance indicators, our business has continued to perform well across the board during the fourth quarter with a return to net revenue growth across all four of our key product verticals."

PartyGaming, the world's biggest listed-online gaming group by market capitalization, derives most of its revenue from online poker and casino games and has a smaller sports book and bingo business.

Poker has been under particular pressure amid a very competitive online gambling market and the company has increased the bonuses paid and expanded its loyalty program to encourage customers onto the site and retain them as well.

CEO Ryan added: "We are pleased to see that the initiatives introduced throughout the year are now feeding through into both operational and financial performance with increased player numbers and average net daily revenues versus the previous quarter, despite continued competition from illegal US-facing sites and the difficult macroeconomic climate."

Partygaming said its casino business has continued to perform well on the back of new games and higher jackpots, while Bingo has grown substantially since the group bought Cashcade in July.

Sports betting has benefitted from a good run of sporting results and the introduction of improved risk management tools.

The company also said new gambling regulations in Italy and France, due to be announced in 2010, represent significant revenue opportunities. Last month Partygaming launched an Italian online poker service with Fueps as it builds out its Italian poker network.

The company said Friday that it has agreed a new GBP35 million loan facility which it will use for general corporate purposes including mergers and acquisitions.

In April, PartyGaming agreed to pay $105 million to U.S. authorities, and in turn the U.S. attorney's office for the Southern District of New York agreed not to prosecute the Gibraltar-based company or its subsidiaries for providing Internet gambling to customers in the U.S. before the federal government's ban of the industry in October 2006.

Since the resolution of the U.S. prosecution situation, there has been widespread speculation about consolidation in the market with Vienna-listed online gaming group Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG rumored to be a merger target. BWin is also based in Gibraltor.

PartyGaming will report its fourth quarter key performance indicators on Feb. 3.

Partygaming shares, which closed Thursday at 259 pence, up 2.5% on the day, rose further after Friday's update and at 0805 GMT stood up 1.9% 263 pence.

Online gaming groups say they are on winning streak - 20th December 2009

Two of Britain’s largest online gaming groups signalled yesterday that punters were returning to the tables.

PartyGaming recorded its best quarter since the second quarter of 2008, while Sportingbet said it had gone from strength to strength.

The fourth quarter of the year is seasonally strong for online gaming companies and PartyGaming did not disappoint after reporting quarter-on-quarter growth across all of its categories, including bingo and casino. KBC Peel Hunt, the stockbroker and advisory house, projected a 24 per cent rise in revenue compared with the same period in 2008, its first year-on-year rise in six quarters.

Yet it was at the poker table that the company played its strongest hand, after revamping its site and working hard to introduce better loyalty offers. It is the first quarter-on-quarter growth that the company, once the largest online poker company in the world, has recorded since 2007.

Jim Ryan, chief executive of PartyGaming, hailed the “return to growth” in the fourth quarter, despite competition from “illegal” US-facing sites.

“Returning poker to growth has been a key focus for us. We are pleased to see that the initiatives introduced throughout the year are now feeding through into both operational and financial performance with increased player numbers and average net daily revenues,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sportingbet also issued a positive trading statement yesterday to coincide with its annual meeting. It said that the strength of its online sportsbook, which accounts for nearly 70 per cent of its revenue, has continued to offset weakness at its poker operation.

PartyGaming looks set to play a significant role in industry consolidation during 2010.

It aims to be a top-three player in the online sportsbook market, after its acquisition of Gamebookers three years ago.

PartyGaming secured a new £35 million banking facility that will fund bolt-on deals. However, the company kept its cards close to its chest over its acquisition plans.

Virgin Casino and Virgin Bingo see new games rolled out thanks to a deal signed with giant software provider, Cryptologic.

Cryptologic's popular The Hulk, Spider-Man and Fantastic Four have leapt into action at Richard Branson's Virgin Games operation.

History buffs will be interested to know that it was living legend, Stan Lee, who was a driving force in developing many of the Marvel super hero characters over the decades. Lee also appears in Marvel motion pictures from time to time, usually in cameo roles.

"Big brands drive player popularity and that is why Cryptologic is excited to launch a game based on Superman, one of the most iconic brands of the entertainment world," said the President and CEO of Cryptologic, Brian Hadfield.

Other new games to be found at Virgin Casino include NextGen Gaming's Blankety Blank and The Price is Right, Cryptologic's Cubis, Virtue Fusion's Dynamite Digger and Ash Gaming's Rubik's Slot.

Virgin Games offer a rewards system, V*Points, which is regarded as one of the industry top reward programs.

2010 will see more new games released at Virgin, and be on the lookout for more Marvel hero themed movies to hit the cinema including Thor and Iron-Man II, and don't be surprised to see more super hero themed games to hit Virgin in the coming months. As Stan Lee says, EXCELSIOR!

PartyGaming in £2bn internet deal - 14th December 2009

Online gaming firm PartyGaming is in talks with Austrian rival Bwin over a potential deal that could create a £2 billion internet gambling giant, it has been reported.

PartyGaming is expected to be asked by the Takeover Panel to clarify its position before the stock markets open Monday morning, according to The Sunday Times.

The firm, led by chief executive Jim Ryan, is thought to be keen to boost its sports betting offer, an area of strength for Bwin.

Meanwhile, there has reportedly been growing speculation over consolidation in the online gaming industry.

But a source told The Sunday Times discussions were at an early stage and might not lead to a deal.

"Everyone in the industry is talking to everybody else," the source said.

PartyGaming has a market value of more than £1 billion while Bwin, which is listed on the Vienna stock exchange, is thought to be valued at 1.3 billion euros (£1.2 billion).

In August, PartyGaming hailed the performance of its casino operations, which include PartyCasino and FoxyBingo.

This helped offset pressure on its PartyPoker division after strong competition left poker earnings 29% lower.

PartyGaming reported a bottom-line loss of 66.9 million US dollars (£41 million) due to payments associated with a non-prosecution agreement with US authorities.

PartyGaming in talks with Bwin - 13th December 2009

PartyGaming is in talks with Bwin, the Austrian-based rival online gambling company, about a potential merger, a move that analysts have long been predicting as a possibility in an industry looking to consolidate.

The close-knit industry has seen a number of companies explore merger options with each other this year, as they wait for new markets to open.

Insiders at PartyGaming said current talks with Bwin went beyond the usual exploratory nature, but emphasised there was no imminent prospect of a deal. Both companies are licensed in Gibraltar.

However, the insiders said PartyGaming was keen that any deal with Bwin would be based on a merger of equals. The market capitalisation of both companies are similar – PartyGaming is worth £1.1bn, while Bwin is valued at around €1.3bn (£1.17bn). Neither PartyGaming nor Bwin would comment on the matter.

The desire for deal-making is likely to strengthen as countries that had turned their faces against regulated online gambling markets (France, Australia, India and United States) begin to step up preparations for liberalisation, albeit limited in some cases.

France is preparing for a partially-liberated market in 2010, Italy is widening its market to include bingo, casino and other games and other European states, with an eye on the potential tax revenues from the industry, are inching towards regulation.

PartyGaming has been preparing the ground for a significant deal, having sealed a non-prosecution agreement with the US department of justice in April over its trading in the US, in return for a forfeiture of $105m.

Jim Ryan, PartyGaming’s chief executive, has repeatedly said that the settlement was a necessary step prior to any merger activity on its part.

Bwin, listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange, is also keen on pushing ahead with merger activity at a time when the company is establishing itself as one of Europe's strongest online gambling companies.

Norbert Teufelberger, co-chief executive of Bwin, last month told the Financial Times that demand from big investment houses was significant and that Bwin would emerge from consolidation as “one of the bigger guys in this industry”.

Bwin, which has 20m registered users, has seen shares rise up 177 per cent in the last 12 months. It is expected to achieve gross gaming revenues of €450m, and adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of €110m.

Bwin strengthened its position in online poker this past September by purchasing Italian operator Gioco Digitale. It has established a strong sports betting product, and is the shirt sponsor of Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Other companies with an eye on events at PartyGaming and Bwin include 888 Holdings, Sportingbet and Unibet.

Rubik's® slot now available at Virgin Casino and Virgin Bingo - 8th December 2009

Rubik's® slot now available at Virgin Casino and Virgin Bingo

Rubik’s® is based on the popular Rubik's® Cube Puzzle. However, the player doesn’t even have to rotate the cube at all or affect anything else in the game, they simply need to press the 'Play' button and then the cube will rotate randomly and when it stops the player is awarded winnings based on how many completed sides and lines there are.

How To Play:

• Press PLAY to start the game. The Rubik's Cube will then start to rotate randomly.
• Between 0 and 6 of the letters of the logo will then light up and play a sound as lit. If all 6 letters are lit then after the winnings are highlighted the player will get to the FreePlays bonus.
• The cube will then stop rotating and the amount won will be determined by the number of lines and sides of the same colour.
• 3 squares of the same colour in a straight line (not diagonal) on the same side will will count as one line. If all the squares on a side are the same colour then a bonus side payout is also awarded for that side as well as the line payouts.
Bonus games

• The player has to select one of the 27 squares that are on the cube and that will then peel of the sticker in that position which will show a prize to the player.
• The prize will either be additional FreePlays or additional cubes.
• The player will get to pick a random number of different squares until they peel one off that says START - and at this point the FreePlays will start.

Bonus Game

• The player has to select one of the 27 squares that are on the cube and that will then peel of the sticker in that position which will show a prize to the player. The prize will either be additional FreePlays or additional cubes.
• The player will get to pick a random number of different squares until they peel one off that says START - and at this point the FreePlays will start.

FreePlays

• FreePlays will each play out automatically and will be for the same stake that was placed for the last bet.
• FreePlays can be re-triggered during FreePlays mode, so you could be awarded with extra FreePlays - if all 6 letters of the Rubik's logo light up then an extra prize will be awarded. This time however the player does not get to choose any squares and is just shown what they won in a popup. Also only extra cubes or extra FreePlays are awarded (cant get both as only one prize is awarded).
• All winnings during FreePlays mode will be credited to your account balance after each play. Auto Play By selecting 'Auto Play' you can choose to play up to 25 plays automatically, one after the other.

London, Virgin Games have announced the latest addition to their range of bingo slot games with the arrival of Super Hoot Loot. This five-reel, 40-payline game offers players the chance to win up to 250,000 credits with a single spin.

Winnings can either be redeemed in the form of cash or V-Points, which can be used on a range of Virgin-branded products. Available in multiple-currencies, the game is expected to be a hit not only in the U.K, but also across the world.

Gamers should look out for the special ‘Hoo the Owl’ symbol, which can appear on any of the game reels to multiple the amount of money won. There is also a free bonus game, which is played with higher hit-frequency reels and can mean winnings multiplied by 10.

This product is the latest in a series of new additions to the site, which include a number of popular entertainment and television franchises, including the new X-Factor bingo game. The site, which is based in Guernsey, was launched in 2004 and received a full re-brand in 2006. Virgin Games celebrate affiliate gaming award

London, 2 December 2009 – Virgin Games are delighted to announce their success at the recent EGR awards, where they won the accolade of “Affiliate Programme of the Year.” Virgin Games beat some stiff competition from a host of other providers, including 888, Betfair, Ladbrokes and Paddy Power to collect the award at London's Billingsgate Market on 30 Monday November.

Now in their 5th year, the EGR awards are widely considered to be the Oscars of the online industry and this award is recognition of Virgin's achievement and innovation in the sector.

Jake Pollard, editor of eGaming Review, commented:

"Congratulations to Virgin Games for winning one of the most competitive categories in the EGR Awards. The relationship between affiliates and operators is vital to the health of the E-gaming sector and by winning the Affiliate Programme of the Year award, Virgin Games has demonstrated its strength and skill in understanding and managing this key aspect of the industry."

Launched in June 2004 Virgin Games offer a range of popular Casino, Bingo, and Poker products. In addition to substantial cash prizes, gamers can earn V Points, which can be redeemed against a whole host of Virgin branded products. The Guernsey-based website is a fully-owned subsidiary of Virgin and adopts the company’s ethos of having fun in that ‘unique Virgin way.’ The group is fully committed to ethical and responsible gaming policies, and prides itself on offering an honest and fair approach.

This is the latest in a string of awards which Virgin Games have picked up over the last few years. In June 2008 they were awarded "Best Gaming Affiliate Programme" at the a4uAwards and in January of this year, the company's head of affiliates, Pierrick Leveque, was voted "Best Bingo Affiliate Manager" at the 2nd annual Affiliate Awards. He commented on this latest win by saying:

"Everybody here at Virgin Games is delighted with this award. This year’s shortlist was packed with industry heavyweights, and for a comparatively small outfit like Virgin Games to get the vote makes the win all the sweeter.

"Without the Virgin Games management team, who gambled on building our in-house affiliate system three years ago; the Virgin Games technical team, who engineered the most stable, fun and scalable affiliate system I’ve had the pleasure to work on, and most importantly, without our loyal affiliates, we wouldn’t be where we are today. We can all be proud."

Virgin Games now offer the most decorated online gaming affiliate programme around. To find out more, visit: VirginGames.com

PartyGaming a Double Winner at the EGR Awards

1st December 2009

PartyGaming is proud to announce that its flagship PartyPoker product was voted ‘Poker Operator of the Year’ at last night’s eGaming Review Awards (EGR). Additionally, Cashcade, which PartyGaming acquired in the summer, took top honours in the bingo category with its Foxy Bingo site beating off stiff competition.

The independent judging panel for the Poker Operator of the Year award recognised the operator that made the most headway in the real-money poker sector during 2008/9. The judges were looking for originality, growth and scale, usability, payment processing and marketing. Special consideration was given to operators who innovated in this competitive sector.

The judges for the bingo award cited Cashcade as the “stand out market leader at a marketing brand level”. They also recognised Cashcade’s achievements for increasing its number of bingo networks to eight, including the launch of the free Cheeky Bingo room, and for several high profile marketing campaigns that included sponsorship of the giant BBC charity event, Red Nose Day.

Jake Pollard, editor of eGaming Review, said:

“PartyGaming and Cashcade are worthy winners of the industry’s premier EGR poker and bingo awards. PartyPoker proved resilient in 2008/9 and maintained its position as the largest non-US, standalone poker site. Cashcade was a very smart acquisition, complementing PartyGaming’s market-leading PartyCasino and PartyPoker products.”

Commenting on the awards Jim Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of PartyGaming, said:

“We are delighted to accept these top online gaming industry accolades for PartyPoker and Foxy Bingo. The EGR Awards are great recognition of the operational excellence of our poker and bingo teams in providing great online gaming entertainment to delight our customers.”

These latest achievements follow the four awards PartyGaming won last month for its 2008 Annual Report. It was voted ‘Best Annual Report’ at both the Accountancy Age and CorpComms Magazine awards as well as being a double winner at the inaugural Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Hermes Transparency in Governance Awards for the ‘Best Practice Disclosure on Strategy’ and ‘Best Practice Disclosure on Stakeholder Engagement’ categories for FTSE 250 companies.
