Bingo News Media: Wrestling Legend Ric Flair Expands Gambling Deals, by Greg Tingle - 1st May 2010

Professional wrestling living legend, 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair, has expanded on his gambling and gaming deals. Enter South Carolina Education Lottery.

As Media Man and Gambling911 have long suspected, there is a cross over audience in wrestling fans and punters, be it lottery, poker, casino, online and offline. We've also noticed an increase in PKR (3D) poker advertising on a number of Wrestling News Media and sports car - lifestyle websites, but that's another story. Flair didn't miss long time nemesis Hulk Hogan doing business with a Native American tribe via The Hulk-a-Mania Experience slot machine, but Flair's opted for "softer" gambling (thus far) via being a face of lottery tickets in the Carolina's.

Flair took a life gamble some 30 years ago when when his bleached his hair blond an transformed his image into a somewhat modern 'Gorgeous George' inspired character, known for his jet flying, limousine riding, wheelin', dealing, son of a gun antics. Flair became the thinking man's wrestler, and quite the entrepreneur in the process.

His biggest wrestling related pay days came around the time of his signing with World Wrestling Entertainment and 1991, soon after having his first match with Hulk Hogan. Today Flair still wrestles the occasional match against Hogan and his mates in WWE rival, TNA Wrestling, but Flair remains on the lookout for worthwhile business deals to help maintain his lifestyle and fuel his considerable expense account which experienced an increase with family matters and the like.

'The Man' is one of Charlotte’s best-known celebs, and one of the world's most famous wrestlers, will be showcased on 'Woooooo!' South Carolina Education Lottery tickets, kicking off next week.

Flair will be in the think of the action with the $5 scratch-off ticket, starting Monday, according to Flair management and of the South Carolina Lottery.

Some six months ago Flair fronted that $5 scratch-off lottery ticket in North Carolina. The Flair tickets were among the state’s best-selling lottery items. The ticket sale was pushed along by television commercials featuring Flair, which later became a bit of a viral hit on the YouTube website portal via Media Man creation American Gaming News.

Paula Harper Bethea, executive director of the South Carolina Education Lottery, said Flair will also help promote the ticket sales in the Palmetto State.

"We look forward to hosting Ric Flair in South Carolina at various events and anticipate an increase in ticket sales to generate more funds for education," Bethea said.

She also advised he is scheduled to appear on behalf of the lottery on 8th May at NASCAR’s Southern 500 racing mega event in Darlington; and again June 5 at the Sun Fun Festival in Myrtle Beach.

The South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) began in 2002. South Carolina is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), best known for Powerball. Like most US lotteries, on January 31, 2010, it participated in the cross-sell lottery expansion, adding Mega Millions.

Pro Wrestlers Connection

Other pro wrestlers who have an interest to get involved in gaming of the gambling variety include Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Snuka and Piper also already in a number of traditional video games. Kevin "Big Sexy" Nash from TNA and NWO fame has some gambling links on his official website. Rumors persist of PartyGaming and / or Australia's NextGen Gaming developing an Andre The Giant online slot game, which would be certain to be a hit with punters down under in Australia, and around the world. Andre toured Australia a number of times including in the 70s and later in the mid 80's with the then World Wrestling Federation.

Punters, into wrestling? Check out the Media Man website network... interviews, articles, profiles et al of many of the world's greatest and most colourful wrestling stars. No pro wrestling slot games... the closest is The Incredible Hulk online slot. Hogan came to terms with Marvel Entertainment a couple of decades ago to the turn of a few million dollars. Captain Cooks Casino is understood to have a 'My Slot' game which can be customized, so if you want to incorporate pro wrestling stars, you can. All we have to say is have fun and Woooooo!

Bingo News Media: S.C. lottery tag-teams with Flair - 28th April 2010

One of Charlotte’s best-known celebrities will be pictured on South Carolina Education Lottery tickets, starting next week.

Former professional wrestling champion Ric Flair will be the subject of a $5 scratch-off ticket, starting Monday, according to representatives of Flair and of the South Carolina lottery.

This is not a first for Flair.

Flair’s photo -- and his trademark “Woooooo!” yell -- were pictured on a $5 scratch-off lottery ticket last fall in North Carolina. A representative for Flair said the tickets were among the state’s best-selling lottery items. The ticket sale was accompanied by television commercials featuring Flair.

Paula Harper Bethea, executive director of the South Carolina Education Lottery, said Flair will help promote the ticket sales in the Palmetto State, too.

“We look forward to hosting Ric Flair in South Carolina at various events and anticipate an increase in ticket sales to generate more funds for education,” Bethea said.

She said he is scheduled to appear on behalf of the lottery on May 8 at NASCAR’s Southern 500 race in Darlington; and June 5 at the Sun Fun Festival in Myrtle Beach.

Aussie Gambling Entrepreneur Con Fails To Lay Golden Eggs In Hot Water, by Greg Tingle - 24th April 2010

Australia and its colourful, often daring, gaming and casino entrepreneurs and their schemes, have been in the news a lot lately, and its been far from all good.

Yesterday Media Man and Gambling911 brought you the explosive Melbourne Storm sports betting scandal, and days prior, Gold Coast whiz kid, "payment processor" (and alleged money launderer), Daniel Tzvetkoff. Well customers, today we bring you not 'Con The Aussie Fruiter' but Constantine 'The Con' Barris, whose lotto scheme failed to lay golden eggs for his investors, and has landed him in boiling hot water.

Media Man and Gambling911 probe and stick a fork in this goose...

A Queensland 'Banana Bender' and semi pro scammer, who claims include having "secret method" to predict future lottery aka Power Ball draws, has been ordered to repay $10,000s of his ill gotten gains to his barn yard full of victims to his devious scheme.

Surfers Paradise entrepreneur start-up Constantine 'Con' Barris had a rush of blood to the brain and hatched a hair brain type idea. He went about establishing a website, Power Ball Win (no, we're not linking to the mongrels site) and distributed 163,000 flyers primarily via junkmail to households across Australia, which claimed "an amazing discovery that disputes the theory of random probability and has totally shocked the experts."

The bad egg cunningly tricked customers forked out a $59 "subscription fee" in order to receive a series of so called predicted numbers to help win all divisions of Powerball. Yeah right....guess what, numbers failed to produce any dividend for subscribers, but it did garner the goose some unwanted attention to himself and his nest egg.

Barris appeared in the Melbourne Federal Court where Justice Richard Tracy ordered him to repay $48,163 to subscribers and flyer distributors and the legal costs of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Legal Eagle Words Of Wisdom To Bad Egg...

"All too often unscrupulous individuals seek to enrich themselves by devising schemes under which unsuspecting victims are induced to part with their money and other property," Justice Tracy said.

Justice Tracy said there could be no 100% guarantee that a number provided by Power Ball Win would be drawn in any given game.

"Nor could any other information, supplied by the company, assist anybody to choose the five remaining numbers. They (the subscribers) would have been in no better position than if they had relied on their own intuition," he said.

ACCC chairman Graeme Samuel advised the verdict was a compelling reminder for punters to be wary of schemes, including those which claimed to be able to accurately predict the outcomes of any form of gambling.

Con's scheme was a game of chance, not a game of skill. Con has some element of "skill" and grey matter in dreaming up and executing the plan, but his goose was a touch hair brained and half cooked.

"Whether the schemes claim to be able to predict the outcome of lotteries, horseracing or other sporting betting schemes the golden rule is if it seems too good to be true, it probably is," Mr Samuel said.

Gambling911 and Media Man also advised punters to fully check out systems that claim to help make you a better poker or online slots players.

Con ya goose, you've got egg and white stuff on you now sunshine. Media Man, Gambling911 (and our spiritual mate, Plucka Duck) at Network Nine are not amused. Any more bad eggs from you and it might just be a special appearance on Nine's Gold Coast themed 'Underbelly. Punters, if your up for a lotto punt we reckon you should just visit your local newsagent and buy a ticket, or if online is your poison, ethical companies such as PartyGaming offer alternatives such as PartyBingo and Foxy Bingo. Virgin's Richard Branson also has a Virgin Bingo service (but Virgin's isn't available to Aussies at this stage). Bottom line, newsagency or Party's Bingo, if you're still in the mood to play. Stay tuned as Gambling911 and Media Man continue to scour the earth for goose's and cons the world over. Have an eggs stroadinary and fun weekend, happy and good hunting, and even better punting.

Hundreds of game titles are available to play now at both PartyGaming's PartyCasino.com and Richard Branson's VirginCasino.com

PartyGaming also owns and operates the famous World Poker Tour (which is available to American punters).

Background

PartyCasino.com VS VirginGames.com

Background to the war...

The "war" between igaming rivals PartyCasino.com and Virgin Games heats up further with the news hot off the press that Richard Branson's Virgin Games will be getting more smash hit games

In addition Richard Branson's Virgin Games is planning a non gambling service: A World Of My Own (AWOMO), which will be able to provide gamers with a cutting edgy technology service in basically all parts of the world, including in regions where traditional online gambling is not permitted. The strength of the Virgin brand, combined with Virgin's track record of success in new ventures and technology stack the odds in favour of the launch being a huge success. Virgin and competitor, PartyGaming, also have very strong news media, igaming, political and business connections.

Virgin's AWOMO is currently in beta testing, and is expected to launch the complete product in the third quarter of this year.

PartyGaming is pushing the interactive elements of its gaming with "Live Dealer", "Casino Calendar" and "Avatar" type technologies just around the corner.

PartyGaming has won a number of eGaming Review awards and commendations over the years including Socially Responsible Operator Of The Year and Operator Of The Year. PartyCasino.com offers rewards program PartyPoints, while Virgin offers V*Points.

Australian Chook Lotto Goose Not Laying Golden Gambling Egg, by Greg Tingle - 2nd April 2010

Red tape can be a pain in the tail for web publishers, casino entrepreneurs and the like, and man down under Greg Tingle at Media Man invest egg ates for Gambling911 ...

real news, spin or April Fools... you be the judge..think Donald Trump, Calvin Ayre and Steve Wynn have got issues with red tape, rules and regulations... legal eagles may have a field day with what our friends 'Plucka Duck' and TV host Daryl Somers are going through this Easter.

Australian TV, gambling and lotto, don't mix, at least that's the story thus far for an Australian iconic comedy and variety show.

Hey Hey It's Saturday host Daryl Somers is going to need a special licence in every Australian state and territory to get the showcase segment back on the air cum April 14.

He said 'Chook Lotto', where Jacki MacDonald collected numbered frozen chickens from a cage to award prizes to a contestant, is subject to the same rules as any lottery operator because it is considered a game of luck rather than a game of skill.

Somers also had to apply for a permit for resident chook man 'Plucka Duck'.

"It's absurd," Somers said.

"Bureaucracy is now threatening the very nature of show business these days.

"We're talking about a bit of fun on a variety show not a new poker machine venue!

"All we're trying to do is give people a good entertaining segment that's part of Australian television history and it's being tied down by bureaucrats.

"The segment ran for years and didn't turn viewers into problem gamblers."

The 'chook lotto' matter comes just days after Aussie Formula One driver Mark Webber branded Victoria a "nanny state" for its stringent road rules.

Somers was able to get around the laws in last year's hugely successful reunion specials by not awarding prizes.

He now tells us recreating the cage that holds the frozen chooks had been a costly exercise because it now had to meet complex OH&S guidelines.

"It's 10 times more difficult to get anything done these days because of all this pointless bureaucracy," he said.

Opposition state gaming minister Michael O'Brien slammed the 'Chook Lotto' red tape.

"Gambling laws are designed to limit problem gambling and keep corruption at bay," Mr O'Brien said.

"I don't think the underworld is interested in 'Chook Lotto' and I don't think anyone ever lost their house because of 'Chook Lotto' either.

"It does seem that this is bureaucracy gone mad and I would urge the regulator to sit down and do everything it can to try and ensure this icon returns to our screens."

Spokeswoman for State Gaming Minister, Tony Robinson, advise any competition that offers prizes of more than $5000 needs a permit under state law.

"If Chook Lotto is run the way it always has been in the past, it will need a permit in Victoria if the total prize value is above $5000," she said.

"The purpose of requiring permits is to ensure that lotteries are conducted fairly. "Harmonising state regulations will make it easier to run national trade promotion lotteries - but unfortunately not in time for this year's Hey Hey It's Saturday."

Punters, does Somers, the Aussie Gambling minister or the Cook have egg on its face, you be the judge, and Happy Easter, and may you luck be Eggs Lent.
