Soap actors star in 'bingo lingo - Metro - 27th January 2009

ITV Bingo has created two new 'rooms' dedicated to Coronation Street and Emmerdale - adding a new soap twist to the fast-growing online game.

Traditional calls of 'two fat ladies' and 'legs 11' have been given the elbow in the online 'venues', powered by Party Gaming - and instead the likes of 'Betty's hot pot with wine/number nine', 'Zoe's institutionalized/number 25' and 'Trisha crushed by a chimney/number 53' will be used.

Controller of ITV Play, William Van Rest, said: "When we designed these rooms we knew we were combining two of the nation's great loves, soaps and bingo, but we never imagined it would spark a change in the fundamentals of the game.
